Applying some kind of Varnish? I quit sharpies for a while because I could never get it to stick. But, if you spray paint the item (weapon, figure, etc) before you use Sharpie, it does help it stay on a LOT.

Sharpie is great because it can create weathering effects relatively easy. I’d use clear nail polish to keep the sharpie from rubbing off easily.

Or a water-based clear acrylic varnish. Nail polish usually contains acetone and it will probably meld with rigid plastics like that on spartan armor.
