TIMELINE:

May 25th - July 14th, 253:1 Around the same time Harmony is being glassed, a small group of ten thousand colonists lands on [REDACTED]. They quickly establish a settlement, the New Orion Research Outpost.

August 28th, 2535: Several of the Colonists vanish while on a routine expedition in the outer edges of the prairie surrounding the New Orion Research Outpost. They disappearances are chalked up to accidents, until colonists begin to vanish while standing on the streets of New Orion. After a while, the disappearances stop and life returns to normal.

January 14th, 2545: After ten years, the New Orion Research Outpost has morphed into a [small for the 26th century] city roughly the size of Detroit pre-2008 recession.

May 1st, 2546: Colonists being to vanish again. At one point, over thirty scientists vanish mid-meeting. Only one scientist stays. Then, like before, the disappearances stop.

September 23rd, 2550: The missing colonists from over fiteen years previously reappear. They haven't aged.

October 25th, 2550: Strange materials begin to fade in and out of existence. Technology entirely unlike anything developed by the Covenant, UNSC, Forerunner, or Precursor begins to appear too.

October 30th, 2550: The mysterious appearances culimate with the appearance of a man fighting a squad of robots. The man astounds the onlooking colonists with his feats of strength and agility, even running along the walls of buildings with the aid of what appears to be a belt mounted jet pack. The man defeats the robots and vanishes. One colonist looks at one of the robots and sees the name BRD-01 Spectre. It doesn't match any known technology in the UNSC.

November 10th, 2550: The first ONI operatives and scientists arrive on [REDACTED]. Within weeks, the thriving colony has been moved off world.

November 10th 2551: The planet [REDACTED] is designated an ONI Black Site. The planet is subjected to intense scrutiny.

2552: The events of Halo Reach and Halo: Combat Evolved take place.

April 15th, 2553: Scientists on [REDACTED] develop a theory about the appearances and disappearances witnessed by the colonists. They believe that the multiverse theory is correct, and [REDACTED] is a gate world into a vast, interconnected multiverse.

April 23rd, 2554: Construction begins on a gateway that may allow travel between dimensions.

July 12th, 2557: Due to increased local activity from the Covenant Storm faction, ONI requests military protection. The 47th Marine Battalion and the 271st ODST Recon Squadron are dispatched to [REDACTED].

June 26th, 2558: The Created Uprising occurs. A Forerunner Guardian appears over [REDACTED]. The UNSC Frigates in orbit have just enough time to launch all of the ODST Drop pods and half of the Pelicans before being destroyed. Only one of the Pelicans, Piloted by Flight Lieutenant Sarah Heston and carrying most of one of the Frigate's corpsmen and medical supplies, makes it to the ground safely. Fortunately, Most of the 47th Marine Battalion was on the ground fighting a small Storm invasion force at the time. After seeing the Guardian, the Elites and Grunts make peace with the Humans and join forces. Every Spartan on the planet is killed except for Junior-121, whose life-pod crashes onto the planet sever months later.

August 15th, 2558: After seeing the wastelands now surrounding the New Orion Research Outpost, the surviving members of the 47th and the 271st decided to form one unit. They call themselves the 405th Outlander Battalion.

August 15th, 2559: After an entire year of fighting, the gateway built five years previously activates on its own. A single man steps out, calling himself Gregor. Appearances begin again via the gateway, although with the gate open, no one disappears. Gregor manages to repair the device he used to open the gateway and is given an honorary spot in the 405th before he leaves.

September 30th, 2059: The Strange man seen fighting the Spectres nine years ago re-appears via the gateway. The 405th convince him to stay and help fight the created. When he appears, he is in a giant robot that he calls a "Titan."

March 18th, 2560: A Man calling himself a "Guardian," not to be confused with a Forerunner Guardian, appears in the gateway. He he an odd drone that floats beside his shoulder and can return from beyond the grave with its help. He also can call anything from a bow to a flaming pistol out of the air by waving his hand. A few days later, another "Guardian" appears. He is more heavily armored than the first, and calls flaming hammers and shields out of thin air. He too has a flying drone that can resurrect him. A week later, a woman appears. She is the third and final "Guardian" to appear, and can call everything from a flaming sword to a miniature black hole out of thin air. She also has a drone that can resurrect her.

July 17th, 2560: The Created and the Covenant Storm come back with a vengeance. Both sides seek to posses the gateway.

December 13th, 2560: Present Day

2562: The Events of Halo Infinite Take place

END OF TIMELINE

Also, this is the topic to make canon change requests, ask to add characters, and generally ask questions about the Canon. I don't feel like copy-pasting this topic onto the customs forum, so feel free to also ask questions about how to make the figures that go along with the story.

The 405th Storyline is somewhat larger than the Gregorverse, and quite a bit smaller than the Wasteland series.

For the most part, pretty much anything that has been done so far is canon, but here are the things that aren't:
1. Any names for the planet the story takes place on. The 405th Outlander Battalion is stranded on planet [REDACTED] and they have set up their primary base in the largest city on the planet, New Orion.
2. All of the Spartans except for Junior-121 and the 405th Gregor. Overusing Spartans cheapens a story unless the writers make them expendable (*cough* Noble Team *cough*). I want the Spartans to be meaningful. I have a second 405th Spartan that I haven't painted and he won't be canon.
3. Any Covenant or Storm "good guy" characters except for Grunts and Elites. No particular reason for that.
4. Flood.

If you have any questions about whether something you want to do will be canon or not, just ask below.

How to make a 405th figure:
1. The figure must incorporate green or tan into the color scheme as a primary color. Earth tones are acceptable secondaries. Earth tones, black, and gray are acceptable jumpsuit colors.
2. The figure must have some kind of red on it (red scarf, red stripes, red etc.)
3. Every member of the 405th is equipped with a combat knife as a backup when the Created disable electronics. The figure must have a combat knife somewhere (it does not have to be removable)
4. Members of the 405th don't have any choice but to throw their armor together higgledy-piggledy Feel free to kitbash or mix and match armor pieces together. All I have made so far have been kitbashed with parts from COD straps, pouches, and various parts.
5. Realize this isn't a contest. There won't be any winners or losers. This is an open invitation to have one or more of your figures join the 405th Outlander Battalion.
6. If you aren't going to paint/glue a figure, try to use parts cohesive with the 405th color scheme. Pop&Swaps are more than OK if they are somewhat similar in color
7. If you make a figure, have fun doing it.
8. Don't make a Spartan. Marines with Spartan armor pieces are OK, but only two Spartans are Canon and I intent to keep it that way.

How to make a 405th Vehicle:

If you want to build a generic 405th vehicle, here is how:
1. Pick a vehicle type
2. Figure out a way to beef it up. 405th vehicles are very blocky and chunky.
3. Figure out where to add greebles, vents, jerrycans, etc.
If you are updating an existing vehicle, figure out a way to make it look better by your own standards. For example: I added a bed to the Spade, cut the roll cage off of the Warthog, added bulk to the Cobra.
4. Fix anything you feel was wrong with the original set. For example: I don't like how gappy the hatch on the regular Cobra is. I fixed it by adding a secondary opening hatch.
5. Add anything else you want. 405th Vehicles are cobbled together in universe and painted by the 405th. Seeing as how literally all of my 405th vehicles in the real world have been cobbled together from spare parts, I decided to make the 405th canon match the real world.

How to paint a 405th vehicle. This step is completely optional, but if you are painting a 405th vehicle, here is the color guide. Obviously, you need to let the paint dry before proceeding to the next step:
1. Before painting, remove all pieces used to indicate lights. Transparent light pieces should not be painted over. Reattach the pieces after the model dries.
2. A 405th vehicle uses gunmetal gray as the base color. Paint the whole thing entirely metallic gray or metallic black prior to adding color. The tires are to stay/be painted black. Gloss or matte is OK.
3. All parts that wont stay gray on the finished model are to be painted army/earth tan.
4. Choose spots where a secondary color would look good. Paint those a shade of army/plant green. Use the same level of paint sheen as in step 3. If you chose a metallic tan, paint the green as metallic. If you chose a matte tan, the green needs to be matte. If you used gloss tan, you know the drill.
5. Plan out where you think stripes would look good. Add red stripes. Paint those a shade of crimson/blood red. Use the same level of paint sheen as in step 3. If you chose a metallic tan, paint the red as metallic. If you chose a matte tan, the red needs to be matte. If you used gloss tan, you know the drill.
6. (optional) Give the entire model (except the tires) a clear gloss finish.
7. Add caution strips and warning logos. Make sure the warning logos are a different shade or hue of red from the stripes. Go nuts with the caution strips. I love the suckers and I put them smack dab everywhere on my 405th vehicles. Put one literally everywhere you think one would look reasonable.
8. Add a quick silver drybrush. Make sure you get a good scratch line on obvious corners.
9. Add a quick black drybrush.
10. Add a quick mud colored paint drybrush. I recommend a watered down Apple Barren matte Beachcomber Beige.
11. Return the transparent faux light pieces to their rightful places.

Welcome to RP and Fanfic!

What type of RP/Fanfic is 405th? Collab? Story? How does one contribute?

It's a large story told from multiple third person perspectives, depending on the user who contributes.

For example, my entries mostly follow a small detachment of 405th, with Doc, Lt. Heston, and Recon Specialist Hooke as the main characters. Another user, would use characters they made to tell the story. One of the many perks of the 405th being stranded on an entire planet is that it allows for multiple stories to happen simultaneously without conflicting to heavily.

There really isn't a set way for someone to contribute. As long as what you make fits in the very loose canon guidelines (and the "don't add this stuff" rules) and follows the timeline, it can be added to the 405th canon. You can do short stories, comics, animation, or photo captions. I mainly stick to photo captions because I like the shorter style, but that's just personal preference.

Are there guidelines for what 405th figures should look like?

405th Gregor isn't technically actually a Spartan, subtly shown in my "The Call of Memory" post by the fact that the faded memory of his beginnings show him in normal explorative gear. He wears Spartan armor that he scrapped together while trapped with the 405th, but he never got the physical enhancements they did. He started out as sort of an inventor with a bit of combative background.

Basically, he found the Starscape gateways, (the Starscape being a dimensional road leading to infinite doorways that lead to different dimensions), and started traveling it, but got stranded in the 405th universe. Which is why I called him an "honorary member", because he didn't become part of it through the military. He became part of it after being stranded there for years alongside them, and learning to adapt with them.

Also, regarding 405th, I'm not much of a custom creator, I'll see what I can do.

On the brightside, I can write lore pretty well.

Well then, I'll be writing quite a bit for this.

So, are there still hostile aliens on the planet? Are there still Created/Forerunners on the surface?
