Halo is not generic.

The characters, plot and many other things.

Boiling it down to that is ridiculous and inaccurate.

Apex Legends is very original. Sure yes, it is another Battle Royale, but Halo 5 is another FPS, no? Apex Legends brought new ideas to the table, like respawning teammates, ziplines, character based abilities, trios, and many more. Keep pelting me with “Because it’s another Battle Royale it’s unoriginal!” all you want, but it won’t work.

Let's take a look at Apex:
Gameplay is similar but different from PUBG, Fortnite, or Blackout.
It uses a Hero system with abilities and skills.
A different artstyle.
Locations and map are completely different.

It's not generic except in gameplay (but advanced movement changes it up a bit) and genre. Halo is a generic FPS in gameplay (again it changes things up). It's not that stupid of a comparison.

I don't care about battle royale.

Gameplay wise halo is still not generic.

Energy shields, unique enemies, etc.

Name one other game like halo gameplay wise.

And i mean before 343 added advance movement.

Yeah, well SOME people can't seem to get the fact that people can like a game that they don't.

Red. It is an incredibly stupid comparison.

Halo defined the FPS genre with new mechanics.

Apex is literally just using what has already been exploited.

Game play cannot be generic if it changes things up.
That makes no sense.

Apex, changes very little.
Advanced movement was already a thing in BR before it (albeit in obscure ones), and changing the art style is basically a reskin. And Heroes. Seriously? BO4 anyone?

Halo brought innovative game play to FPS. A longer time to kill, futuristic and alien weapons varying in usefulness depending on the situation, and actually required skill.

Most importantly, a compelling story (until Halo 5, which messed up).
Do not even try to argue it's not a good story.
The lines were memorable ("I know what the ladies like!"), the characters relatable, (Jenkins and the flood), and you didn't get bored, as level design with the exception of C.E. varied decently.

Calling it generic, compared to a product of mashed up unoriginal designs, heavily ancred in shady business practices, from a company who literally insults their customers, and gives them a game with pretty much one gamemode (variants don't really count), is probably the most laughable thing I have heard in a while.

Please, do enlighten me more on how generic Halo is.
