Halo is not generic.

The characters, plot and many other things.

Boiling it down to that is ridiculous and inaccurate.
Let's take a look at Apex:
Gameplay is similar but different from PUBG, Fortnite, or Blackout.
It uses a Hero system with abilities and skills.
A different artstyle.
Locations and map are completely different.

It's not generic except in gameplay (but advanced movement changes it up a bit) and genre. Halo is a generic FPS in gameplay (again it changes things up). It's not that stupid of a comparison.
Red. It is an incredibly stupid comparison.

Halo defined the FPS genre with new mechanics.

Apex is literally just using what has already been exploited.

Game play cannot be generic if it changes things up.
That makes no sense.

Apex, changes very little.
Advanced movement was already a thing in BR before it (albeit in obscure ones), and changing the art style is basically a reskin. And Heroes. Seriously? BO4 anyone?

Halo brought innovative game play to FPS. A longer time to kill, futuristic and alien weapons varying in usefulness depending on the situation, and actually required skill.

Most importantly, a compelling story (until Halo 5, which messed up).
Do not even try to argue it's not a good story.
The lines were memorable ("I know what the ladies like!"), the characters relatable, (Jenkins and the flood), and you didn't get bored, as level design with the exception of C.E. varied decently.

Calling it generic, compared to a product of mashed up unoriginal designs, heavily ancred in shady business practices, from a company who literally insults their customers, and gives them a game with pretty much one gamemode (variants don't really count), is probably the most laughable thing I have heard in a while.

Please, do enlighten me more on how generic Halo is.
Looking back on the comparison, yes it was stupid. I'll admit it's not a good comparison. All I'm going to say is that Apex isn't generic. It takes the Battle Royale genre, and gives it new features. Let's all just back off from this pointless arguement. All it's doing is making people mad. I'm done with this. I'll play my games, and you can play your games.

So I thought.
Yeah, let's stop this argument before it degenerates into an insult-fest.

The Only thing not generic about halo is the controls.

Says the CoD fan.
At least Halo had a good story for 8/9 of the games.
That's more than Call of Duty.

I must say, I can't help but disagree there.

One more word before this discussion is over. Survivor, you said that Apex Legends was unoriginal because you have to be the last one alive to win. What would you want, you have to die first to win?

I hate the controls in pretty much every halo game. Let me make my own!

I'd rather it wasn't Battle Royale, and an actual good game.

I told you, there are already too many BRs out there.
