Turns out me wrong. Grunt goblins first appears in combat in September 2558. (A couple months before the first level of Halo 5.)

Personally, HiddenXperia says they're from after the created but you know, I'm pretty sure they're just Warzone bosses made by 343i Spartan Simulations.
